Fort MacMari International Airport
Fort McMurray International Airport is a civilian airport located 13 km southeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada, owned and managed by the Fort McMurray Airport Administrator since 2010. Air services to the city of Fort MacMari. It is the largest airport in northern Alberta.
The airport, which dates back to the early 20th century, has an altitude of 369 m (1,211 ft) and a runway length of 1,829 m (6,000 ft) and a width of 46 m (150 ft). The airport has a total of two terminals, the original terminal opened in 1986, located in the north of the airport runway, in 2014, the terminal was renovated and reopened to the public, mainly serving charter flights, corporate flights and cargo air transport. The other terminal is the main terminal of the airport, officially opened in 2014, with a total investment of $258 million, can accommodate 1.5 million passengers per year.
Over the past few decades, Fort Makmari International Airport has achieved rapid development by leaps and bounds, and the importance of the airport has increased. The airport serves domestic, regional and international scheduled passenger and cargo routes operated by Air Canada, WestJet, Air McMurray and Northwest Airlines to Edmonton, Calgary, Fort Chipewyan, Vancouver and Toronto. In 2014, the airport handled 1,308,416 passengers per year, making it the 15th busiest airport in Canada.
